D-Day minus 1 of the Churchill Conference

I am sitting in the Ferry Terminal at Swartz Bay in Victoria eagerly awaiting the nine o’clock to Tsawwassen. This is the first entry of many that will be posted on this blog regarding the 24th International Churchill Conference which is being held in Vancouver, Canada.
I will have an early start tomorrow because “sign-in” is at 8:30 am and the first seminar is soon to follow. It will be good to see some old friends from Victoria as well as some from Vancouver whom I met at the Gala Dinner this spring. I am also excited to meet new people and hopefully meet Lady Soames, Churchill’s daughter, who will be present at the conference.
I hope to have breakfast with my Mum at the Fairmont before the commencement of the festivities. If you are there, try to find me. I will be the only one not able to have a brandy with the boys.

Good start. We are counting on your eloquent and vibrant descriptions to help experience what you are. You can have brandy at my house any time if your mom will let us.

My Darling Squirt,
What an exciting adventure for you ! I wish you many magical and memorable moments. The troops anxiously await your next update. (~_~) And remember - the brandy doesn't assist eloquence....it challenges it !!!
Much Love

Hope you are having a great day Kieran! What a great opportunity to meet some interesting people including Churchill's daughter! Wow. I just visited www.winstonchurchill.org and it looks like there is some really great information about him as an inspiriational public speaker. I am involved with Toasmasters and looks like I could use him for the subject of a speech. Have fun!

Can you tell us more about the Lady? Is she grand or modest, beautifully attired or frumpy, pleasant or aloof?

Sounds like you had an excellent and educational day. It's interesting that at a conference of Churchillophiles, they are able to discuss his foibles as well as his strengths. I admire that.

Looking Good Kieran. Were there 200 or 300 hundred members present.? I wonder if any of them have actually written about Churchill.

Hi Kieran: I am a friend of Rita and Frank, and Rita had previously told me about your interest in Winston Churchill. Rita also told me about your trip to Vancouver and the Churchill Conference and referred me to the blog where you wrote about your time there. What an experience - I am really impressed that you were asked to propose a toast for Lady Soames' birthday. And the dinner menu had my mouth watering! I enjoyed reading your blog and the pictures are great. (And in my opinion, brandy is overrrated!)
